SUCCESS! The Invention Convention was a huge success! The students did an awesome job with their inventions. The presentations were very well done, and many of the inventions have the potential to become real products.

History - Test Thursday covering the last half of the American Revolution.

Science - Test Monday on Chapter 11.

INVENTIONS - All parts of the Inventions and backboard are due no later than Friday, May 2. We will begin presenting on Monday, May 5.

April 21-25

Science - I know that the time for the Invention Fair is coming quickly. The students are very excited to share their inventions.
The Inventions, backoards and evrything thatgoes withitare due in ourclassroom on May 2, 2008. We will be presenting our inventions to the class on May 5, 2008. The presentations will be given for the review committee on May 6, 2008. The students will also need to be at the Spring Gala on the evening of May 8, 2008.

Week of April 14-17 

Spelling - Test on Thursday.

Religion - Unit test on Thursday.

Reading - Comprehension test on chapters 16-18 on Monday.

Grammar - We will begin writng personal narratives this week.

Math - Test Wednesday.

Science - Test on Tuesday covering Chapter 10.

Inventioins - Backboards and headers go home this week. The students have guidelines for how to do them. We have worked on this during class.
- There are some very interesting and ingenious inventions!

Standardized tests have been completed.

March 31-April 4 

Welcome to the final quarter of 4th grade. I hope you had a restful break and are ready to finish off the year with great energy!

This week we will be doing the practice standardized tests. This will get us ready for the real thing next week.

Spelling - test on Friday.

Religion - test on Friday.

Reading - test on Wednesday.

Math - test on Friday.

Inventions - I hope that we all have our ideas down and ready to get to work. We will be going over our searches. Then we will begin to make our final plans. Once the backboards are in we will go over the specifics of what need to be on the board, and how to create a great looking board.

March 17-19 

Wishing each and every one of you a very blessed Easter, and a restful break from school.

Math – test Monday covering information through Lesson 85.

Inventions – The 4th graders are working hard to get their inventions narrowed down. After we get back from break we will take a day or two to check if our inventions have already been done, and then we will be moving on to complete the inventions, backboards, and presentations.

Reminder - All backboard orders and money must be turned in no later than Wednesday, March 19.

No Religion or Spelling tests this week.

Week of March 10-14 

Reading - test on Monday covering chapters 4-10 in The Sign of the Beaver. Includes vocabulary.

Science - test Tuesday on Objects in Space. Includes planets and the solar system.

History - test Friday covering the Chinese Dynasties.

Spelling -test Friday on unit 29.

Religion - test Friday on Chapter 23.

Inventions - I have met with each of the 4th graders on Friday to discuss their inventions. Most students have an idea in mind. Some are still thinking. Please ask your child about their invention. They are very excited about this project.

Week of March 3-7

Inventions - The 4th graders are off to a great start with the inventing process. They will have completed their interviews by Monday. Then we will begin looking at the interview problems to see if we can come up with some inventions to solve them. Thanks for all the help and support as we continue on in this process.

Backboard order forms - Order forms for the backboards for the Invention Fair will be coming home this week. Please complete them and return them by the due date.
